The Human Resources Manager is responsible for supporting, managing, and coordinating human resources activities and providing guidance on employee relations, training, compensation, benefits, staffing, and safety. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the full recruitment function, including partnering with hiring managers to provide training on employment policies and processes, source candidates, evaluate personnel needs, develop job descriptions, and implement the recruitment strategy.
  • Partner with Vice President of Human Resources to identify partners like universities and other trade associations that can create access to talent through internships, co-ops, etc.
  • Effectively manage the new hire employment process, including ensuring completion of pre-employment activities and facilitating orientation and onboarding.
  • Administer performance management and other talent management processes in partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources and managers.
  • Support the Vice President of Human Resources in the development and deployment of training and skills development programs to support critical organizational skill and succession gaps, as well as the development and implementation of employee individual development plans. 
  • Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing the selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees to achieve the required results quickly and in line with Company policies, ethics, and legislation.
  • Partner with leaders on employee relations issues, including providing fact-based, consistent recommendations for performance improvement plans, terminations, and conducting investigations as needed.
  • Support employee health and safety programs by participating in and assisting with the development and maintenance of safety policies, programs, and systems. Responsible for recordkeeping, reporting, and administering Workers' Compensation.
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, administration, and audit of benefits and compensation-related programs.
  • Perform day-to-day benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, communicating benefit information to employees and managing the annual open enrollment process.
  • Identify human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action and new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve organizational performance.
  • Aid in the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance, consistency, and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance on HR-related company guidelines and policies, as well as compliance with all state, federal, local, and company regulations.
  • Responsible for management of employee and other human resources records.
  • Provide support for ISO 9000 quality system requirements as related to human resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with 5+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong preference for experience in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Human Resources certification preferred.

Specific skills/competencies required:

  • Must have strong knowledge of multiple Human Resources disciplines. Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations, processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and timely.
  • Must be able to take the initiative, manage multiple tasks, manage projects, and prioritize workflow.
  • Strong follow-up, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required, with an ability to inspire trust and confidence with stakeholders at all levels by virtue of keen business acumen, professional competence, integrity, credibility, and personal style.  
  • Must be customer- focused at all times, exemplifying a professional and friendly presence in interactions with all levels of internal and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including excellent presentation skills with the ability to deliver messages tailored to the audience a must.
  • Requires strong proficiency in applicant tracking systems, HRIS systems, and other relevant human resources technology. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. ADP WFN and payroll experience preferred.
